After spending 15 days in Amsterdam with family, it was time to resume the adventure. Today I am flying to Madrid.
Amsterdam is a city that has been a second home for years. The canals, the bike lanes, the gabled houses, the rhythm of family life — all familiar, all loved. But familiarity has its own gravity, and after two weeks of it, the traveller in me needed forward motion. Something new. A language I don’t speak. Streets I don’t know. A city that hasn’t yet revealed itself.
First order of business: check into a hotel and set up the tech stack. I’m arriving in the evening, so there won’t be much more to do tonight. Unpack. Connect the laptop. Establish the base camp. Tomorrow Madrid begins in earnest.
The transition days are always the quiet ones — the bridge between chapters, the inhale before the next exhale. Fifteen days in Amsterdam was a pause. Now the journey continues.
