This review covers a 27+ day stay in September–October 2026.
The Overview
Apart-hotel TARHUN — Tbilisi, Georgia. A small, family-run apart-hotel tucked into a quiet courtyard just off Rustaveli Avenue. Chosen for its central location, excellent reviews, value for money, and the appeal of a self-contained apartment for an extended stay. I booked a studio which included a small kitchen with two electric burners, a small fridge, queen bed, dining table, single seat couch/chair and small balcony. A washer was available in the roof courtyard for everyone’s use and I used frequently.
The Seven Senses Review
👂 Cadence — Sound (Score: 10/10)
Exceptionally quiet for such a central location. Tucked into a courtyard away from the main road, with no street noise, no neighbour noise, and no mechanical hum. The kind of silence that lets you sleep deeply — rare in any city, almost unheard of in Tbilisi.
✋ Unwind — Touch (Score: 10/10)
The unit I was in had a large shower and the bathroom was a bit larger for most European standards. The queen bed was comfortable and the unit did have an A/C unit which kept the room cool. It also has a heater function which I did not use.
👅 Palate — Taste (Score: 10/10)
Self-catering with a well-equipped kitchenette. No breakfast service. There are 3 grocery stores nearby. One is more of a bodega with snacks and limited items, the other is a mini mart and the last one is a “hypermarket” (Carrefour) with a wide selection of items. Cooking in the unit was simple enough and I cooked numerous meals on the stovetop and used the microwave to heat or re-heat meals. This is the first unit to feature sharpened knives during my 3+ month travel stays.
👃 Aroma — Smell (Score: 10/10)
The business model for this is a combination apartment for long stays but limited service as a hotel stay. The staff cleans the room every 2 or 3 days instead of daily. As such, the room smells fresh when refreshed with new towels, sheets, and the floor and kitchen is cleaned. Because it is an apartment, cooking will imbue odors of what you are cooking into the room until the next cleaning or if you cook with the window open to allow air to flow.
👁 Vista — Sight (Score: 10/10)
The lighting in the room was adequate and the small balcony offered some daylight during the day. There is not much of a view from the balcony in my room however there is an amazing vista on the rooftop area. It is an open area with tables and benches and views of Tbilisi. I had coffee in the morning and worked on my laptop on a few occasions.
🙏 Sanctuary — Spirit (Score: 10/10)
Host Irina is the heart of this place — welcoming, responsive, and genuinely invested in her guests’ comfort. She meets you at check-in, walks you through everything, provides maps and local tips, and remains available throughout the stay. The kind of host who makes a 27-day stay feel like having a local friend. Room cleaned twice weekly with fresh linens and towels — rare attentiveness at this price point.
🧭 Wander — Instinct (Score: 10/10)
Perfect location. Walking distance or a short transit ride to virtually everything that matters in Tbilisi:
- Tbilisi State Conservatoire — concert venue
- Museums — Art Museum of Georgia, National Gallery, Lado Gudiashvili Museum
- Churches & Monasteries
- Metro & Buses — Liberty Square, Rustaveli stations nearby
- Parks — Giorgi Leonidze Park and others within easy reach
- Restaurants, groceries, and pharmacies all walkable
Groceries, restaurants, and everyday needs are all within a short walk. The courtyard location means you come home to quiet, but step out the door and the city is right there.

The Verdict
Apart-hotel TARHUN is the best value accommodation I have found in Tbilisi — and possibly in any city on this journey. For the price of a budget hotel, you get a self-contained apartment with a kitchenette, a rooftop terrace, twice-weekly cleaning with fresh linens, and a host who genuinely cares about your stay. The location puts the Conservatoire, museums, metro, and restaurants within easy walking distance, yet the courtyard setting keeps everything quiet. Irina’s hospitality is what tips it from excellent to exceptional. After 30 days, it didn’t feel like a hotel — it felt like home. The inaugural 7 Senses Spectrum Award goes to Apart-hotel TARHUN. It earned every point.
